Discover the art of embroidery in this beginner-friendly workshop designed to be a relaxing session of stitching while you master the fundamentals of this timeless craft! Whether you're completely new to embroidery or looking for a refresher, this class will introduce you to the essential stitches, tools, and techniques needed to transform simple thread into beautiful stitched designs.

You’ll start with a sampler hoop to practice 5 different stitches before moving on to a larger embroidery kit, where you’ll begin crafting your own stitched artwork. Along the way, you’ll learn how to use embroidery floss, place your fabric in the hoop, secure your thread, and a variety of valuable finishing tips.

Embarking on the journey of learning to crochet is a fun crafty adventure. Sure, it might seem a bit daunting at first, like deciphering a magical code of loops and knots. But fear not! With patience, practice, and a sprinkle of determination, you'll soon find yourself dancing with the hook and yarn like a seasoned pro.

Join us to learn the foundations of this traditional fiber art. Practice the chain stitch and single crochet with your crochet hook tool and yarn. If you master that, move on to the double crochet stitch!

Intro to Printmaking

Discover the playful, tactile world of printmaking in this approachable intro workshop! We’ll guide you step-by-step through designing, carving, and printing your own custom block so you can experience the magic of pulling your first print.

You’ll start by transferring a provided design—or your own sketch—onto a soft carving block. With expert guidance, you’ll learn how to safely use the carving tools to bring your artwork to life. Once your block is ready, head over to the inking station to roll on ink and print your design onto paper. Make a small series to take home, share, or frame.

It’s a relaxed, creative session perfect for anyone curious about trying something new and leaving with art they’re proud of.

- All materials including the use of carving tools, brayers, inks, etc.
- Your carved block and printed pieces to take home!

About the Instructor:
Olivia Yuen is a local printmaking artist and sells work through her company, Liv Handmade. Her work is inspired by several subjects including the natural world, botany, and her cultural heritage. When she isn't creating her own work, Olivia has a day job as an art teacher in Phoenix.
